REFLECTION

I reflect on my past--what I have learned, and what I have created.

As this year ends and a new one begins, I reflect on the events of my past, the lessons learned and the wisdom gained. I see life from a different perspective today than I did a decade, a year or even a month ago. My circumstances have changed, and so have I.

I am continually honing my skills at living a life of purpose and meaning. I think before I speak, knowing my words have power. My actions are deliberate, hopeful and positive.

I reflect on my past and what I have created. As I move forward, I bring with me the best of what was, and I create the best from what is. Thoughtfully, prayerfully and purposefully, I am ready for a new beginning.

See, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare. --Isaiah 42:9

‘Silent night, holy night’, Xmas hymn, means only the state of silence makes one holy; be made holy tonight through spiritual silence.

‘Happy Xmas’ means that Christ is born on Xmas night in the souls of those who are joyful. The Christ birth makes you further joyful.

Is it not interesting that the nativity of Christ and of Krishna, both are celebrated at midnight – the moment of total silence, equilibrium.

Is it not interesting that Christ is born in cattle shed or cave and Krishna in a prison. Both promise the world salvation through surrender.

Happy Chistmas. Be joyful from today because Christ is now born in the manger or cave of your heart.

Pretzels: A Lenten treat

Pretzels originated in Europe during the Middle Ages. A monk was making unleavened bread for Lent with flour and water because eggs, milk and lard were not consumed as part of the Lenten fast. He twisted some of the dough into the shape of people praying with both arms folded across their chests.(can you see it?) He decided it would be a perfect treat for children learning to say their prayers. He called the treats pretiola, the Latin word for "little reward."

There is a historic prayer known as the ‘Prayer of Examen’. The idea is to intentionally reflect on your day, on what you’ve done and thought about.

There are always good things we could have done which we didn’t, and things we did do which we shouldn’t! This is a great time to ask for forgiveness and to ask Spirit to help us act more in love each day.

Have a look back over the last 24 hours; give thanks for the blessings and good things.

Use this time to set your sights on living more like Jesus each day.

Step One:

Prepare yourself by quietly focusing your attention on God.

Step Two:

Review your day with thankfulness When did you live out of Christ’s love?

When did you not live out of Christ’s love?

Step Three:

Thank God for what is happening through this exercise, and ask Spirit to guide you and give you

grace for tomorrow.

Happy Diwali!

Diwali is known as the festival of lights and is an important 5 day festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. For Hindu's it is the most important festival of the year.

Diwali involves the lighting of lamps filled with oil which signify the triumph of good over evil.

In Jainism, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha by Mahavira in 527 BC. Moksha literally means release and is the liberation from the suffering involved in being subject to the cycle of repeated death and rebirth.

November is the month of renunciation, letting go and releasing of all that holds us back spiritually in Unity's Twelve Powers model of Christ consciousness.

So for the next 5 days at least, let your light shine!

Change Begins Within

Hi Friends;

This Sunday we will be discussing how true change begins within and then the outer world catches up.

You may remember that Myrtle Fillmore was caught by the truth that "as a child of God I inherit no illness", and began her healing prayer practice. Though she took this truth to heart she was not immediately healed on the outside, but over time was healed both inside & out.

Remember we must be both patient and persistent.

Unity of Gulf Breeze is a family size church located on the road between Pensacola and Pensacola Beach. Yesterday the oil landed on our beautiful white beaches, there is no swimming allowed now due to the oil and other toxins that have washed in. While we are affirming a solution, we are experiencing first hand the loss of the lives of so many beautiful creatures . We need your prayer support. I am asking that you send written prayers to us words from your hands and heart are very powerful. We will post them on the walls of the church to lift us up. Many of us have completed the training to qualify as volunteers and are on standby. See us empowered by faith not constricted by fear. Help us with this process. We know the church walls will be filled soon. We will provide meditation and prayer services and recreational activities for the community. There are many church communities impacted by this event we affirm we are all surrounded by love and strength.

Freedom

The quality or state of being without thought or restraint, bondage, limitation, or repression; having a sense of complete well-being. It is a result of regulating one's life according to Principle, not according to what anyone else may think or say.

THE TOUCHING THE STILLNESS APRIL PRAYER EXPERIENCE

120 years ago a small group of individuals came together and sat in the silence for 15 minutes at 10:00 PM every night for a month. The results were so remarkable that this band of prayerful Truth seekers extended the invitation to others to join them in their nightly silent vigil whenever it was 10:00 PM local time.

And so it is that Unity’s world-wide, 24-hour ministry of prayer, Silent Unity, was born and is today a national movement that prays with people from around the world of every faith and denomination.

Running for life on April 3rd

I've joined Team World Vision, and will run/walk a half marathon (the 13.1 NY benefiting World Vision), and help change lives in Africa on my birthday this Saturday. Will you help?

I am raising money to help dig wells and provide clean water in African countries like Kenya. When a community gains access to clean water, here's what happens:
> The infant mortality rate is cut in half
> Children can attend school instead of walking up to 6 miles for water each day
> Women can spend time learning a trade to support their family instead of collecting water
> Overall health is improved with clean water and sanitation
> Crops and livestock thrive with clean water and proper irrigation
The problem of poverty can seem overwhelming. But I believe there is something we can do. Whether you can give $10 or $1000, no amount is too small. Together we can help change lives in Africa.

Help for Haiti

Help Haiti, a message from Rich Stearns to the church from World Vision Video Dept. on Vimeo.

We are partnering with World Vision to support relief efforts in Haiti. World Vision has over 300 staff members in Haiti already and they are supplying first aid kits along with blankets, clothes water & soap. At the present time it appears first aid is a priority and they have the capacity to feed hundreds of thousands but currently are constrained by lack of access.

This past summer they sent a shipping container of emergency supplies in anticipation of the hurricane season. This shipment alone can help more than 1,500 families with kitchen sets, hygiene kits, water containers, and water purification tablets.

I let go all that would attempt to stop my spiritual growth.

Just as weeds can choke out a tender seedling, negative thoughts, words and feelings can suppress our expression of the Christ spirit within.

I will endeavor to do my spiritual exercises as regularly as I do physical exercises. Through Christ I learn to wait patiently for the right thing and the right time. I learn to put my thoughts in the proper order. I live one day at a time. Through Christ I see that order is the first law of my world.

On this sixth day of Christmas, I call forth my wonderful imagination. I see possibilities of good everywhere I look.

I form happy images of myself doing the things that I have ever longed to do. I feel myself being the person that I want to be.

As the awareness of the Christ in me expands, my imagination expands to envision good in all I see.

Though outer circumstances may cause my world to tremble at times, I feel safe and secure, for I reside in my inner haven of perfect peace.

No longer do I feel the need to depend upon outer sources for my help. I am strong with the strength of my Creator. I give thanks that there is nothing that can cause me to falter as I keep myself centered.

The Christ in me is growing steadily in the strength of Spirit.

The Second Day of Christmas

I grow in love.

On this second day of growth and understanding, I am filled with divine love.

I feel my own sense of worth. I am a child of God and very special. I love myself, for I am housing and nurturing the Christ. I am truly a temple of the living God.

As I look at others in my world, I think of them as temples, even if they are not yet aware of this truth.

Love is the power that awakens my spiritual nature. Love is the food of Spirit that is so necessary to the growing awareness of the Christ within.
